Cadet Program

A real head start on a firefighting career — full training, real calls, and mentorship from active members of the department.

Launched in 2018

High Schoolers, Fully Trained

The Pierce Fire Department was excited to start a fire cadet program in 2018.

This program allows high school students between the ages of 16 and 18 to become a member of our department. Cadets complete full training for firefighting and emergency scenes, and — with parental permission — are able to respond to calls alongside our members, assisting with non-hazardous activities.

School comes first: cadets must maintain a minimum GPA, and school activities always take priority over department activities. The program is made up of six cadets.
