Who We Are

A Century of Service to Pierce County

The Pierce Volunteer Fire Department covers an area of 168.5 square miles in Southeastern Pierce County in Northeast Nebraska, serving a district with a population of 2,400 people. Our department is made up of 40 volunteer firefighters and 25 EMTs, all committed to protecting the City of Pierce and the Pierce Rural Fire District.

We are a completely volunteer organization — neighbors protecting neighbors — dedicated to providing professional emergency fire and rescue services, and to improving fire safety awareness through community programs for kids and adults alike.

What We Do

Community Programs & Services

Beyond responding to emergencies, we invest heavily in fire prevention and in training the next generation of firefighters right here in Pierce.

Fire Prevention

Each year during Fire Prevention Week, we welcome preschool and elementary students to our station and visit local schools to teach lifesaving fire-safety skills.

Jr. Fire Patrol

Open to 4th-grade students, our 5-week program covers escape plans, fire hazards, extinguisher use, self-rescue, and basic first aid.

High schoolers ages 16–18 train alongside our members, respond to non-hazardous calls with permission, and get a real head start on a firefighting career.
